The Eddytherm Portable Induction Bearing heater system is easy to transport and will work with bearings up to 10kg.
The use of proper shrink fitting can extend the life of roller bearings. It’s common that low bearing life expectancy is due to improper installation. Mechanical methods such as hammers and hydraulic presses risk damaging the inside surface of the inner ring and the bearing races. The better shrink fitting solution is via induction heating.
The process EDDYTHERM® utilises is the induction principle as in transformers – its core and windings can be seen as the primary side, but the workpiece acts as a short-circuited secondary winding, which rapidly heats up due to its great electrical resistance. This process allows EDDYTHERM® to control heating by continuously monitoring the workpiece temperature and adjusting its own heating power accordingly. This ensures that the workpiece is heated evenly and the selected temperature is achieved precisely. The crossbar itself remains cool enough to touch.
